This week I took a little break from working on the Hunter's Journal to get a head-start on my next project. So, my shop has two old 3D Printers that one of my shop teachers wanted to give away. I got the older, more broken printer of the two, but I wanted the challenge of fixing it. I spent Monday with the Shop helper(An old student) working on getting the old printer working again. Tightening bolts and greasing the poles the bed, the printing head, and the y-axis move on. We had to grade the Sophomores on their light-box project and that took some time that's all I was able to get done Monday.

We had Tuesday off, which I used to find a place within my house where the printer could go and fit with the case I'm making for it. I have a side table in my living room that's just for holding stuff, so the 3D printer can live there. When we got back to school, I fixed the belts for the bed and head because they were jumping when I moved the parts.

I've mostly been working on the CAD model for the case. It's a simple box with a door with a window, filament holder, vents, and everything else a 3D printer enclosure needs. Figuring out the filament holder was a bit tricky. At first, I just thought of two hooks with a tube between them to hold the filament just sticking out of the side of the case. But a bit of thought about size shot that idea down and instead, the current plan is to cut a square into the left side of the case; having 2 little holders for a tube that itself will hold the filament. I plan to getting all the basics of the model done by Friday if anything, hopefully,y the model itself so I can get to making it next week.
