This week was big in terms of progress on the Hunter's Journal. With the PCB (semi..) working, I moved to doing the final prints of everything and finally, putting everything together. I started printing the final device base before February Break started, and when we got back all I had to do was print out the different other details I've modeled for the device. There was a small setback with the screw holes, the 3D printer accidentally closed up some of the holes. I had to go and drill the holes manually.

The LEDS also gave me a bit of trouble during the beginning of the week. The holes I've modeled were for the wrong side of the LED; (where the DOUT, not the DIN) and when flipped, the LEDs wouldn't match up with the holes on the top part of the base. The solution I came up with, is to just tape the LEDs where I want them(which is on the back of the top part of the base). I know it's kind of scuffed method of fixing it, but I would have had to print an entirely new top part if I added the correct holes to the CAD model, so I went with this method.

Everything else went surprisingly smoothly, with the 3D printer only giving me a small amount of trouble when printing the device details. I'm basically done with the device of the Hunter's Journal, but I still need the leather and battery pack before I can be fully be done with this project.
I talked to my grandma over the break and she found an old leather bound book she doesn't mind parting with, I plan on picking it up during the weekend because I don't really have the time to get it during the week. As for the battery pack, I finally got the money to order it, but it may take some time getting here. I plan on starting to put together the actual journal part of the Hunter's journal next week when I have most of everything I need. If I have any spare time next week as well, I'll probably start sketching out my next project because I've had a few ideas that I haven't been able to work on because of the Hunter's Journal.
