Hello All! This week was slow on some projects due to just waiting around, but at least some progress was made on the Poster Project and the Medical Device Repairs have come to a (temporary) end. Also I should note that there wouldn't be any blog post next week due to Thanksgiving Break.
Starting off Tuesday as I wasn't here on Monday, I started to charge the other cell of the battery for the medical device. I mostly just left alone for the entire time while also keeping an eye on to make sure it doesn't explode. While the battery was charging, I was trying to design the spinner part of the poster. This is a bit tricky to design as I plan on placing the LED in the middle of it so the middle of the bullet hole looks like it's glowing. I'm just trying to the spinner to spin first before worrying about the LED wires. At first it was just a small pillar connected to a circle base while the top part was a ring connected to another circle base. I had to size them up a bit while to 3D print them due to having made everything on the poster CAD file really small. They came out fine on the Printer but the design didn't work. It wasn’t able to spin at all once I attached the two pieces. So back to the drawing board for me! I started to size up everything in CAD as both the test cut of the poster itself and the spinner needed to be sized up it their respective machines.

On Wednesday, I finished the size-up in CAD but again forgot that Inkscape hated Fusion. I was able to mostly reuse the things I made in the first full cardboard test. I only had to remake the bull skull and horns in Inkscape. After laser cutting them and taping everything to together, I thought it was a bit too big, so I just scaled down everything Inkscape(like I should have done from the start) and everything looked much better. I was still charging the battery Wednesday but I was getting worried by how much I was charging it and how long it was taking. I felt the battery and it was crazy hot. I imminently unplugged it and checked to see if anything burnt but thankfully nothing had. The battery had puffed a bit and I didn't think it was safe to continue charging. I told Mr.L and he agreed, he's just going to look for another battery to replaced the puffed one. So, until that battery arrives(which I'm not sure how long that's going to take) I'm technically done with the Medical Device.
Following on Thursday, I went back to the drawing board on how to make the spinner. If something disconnected to the bullet hole wouldn't work, maybe something connected will? I design a very simple thing, where a hollowed circle will be connected to a circle base on the other side of the poster, and another circle connected to the bullet hole itself will be able to fit in that hollowed circle with enough room for it to move freely. I did a quick test print when the 3D printer line was dead and I may have to expand the space between the Bullet circle and the frame circle. Also on Thursday, I, alongside a few other underclassmen, helped wrapped the sand things we use for the Water Jet in plastic as it needs to a dry for it to work properly and that whole area tends to get wet a lot. I plan on finalizing the spinner design and making sure it works Friday, and if I have time, start planning on how to install the LED on it.
