Medical Updates (Week of 11/10)

Hello Everyone! This week was on the short side, similar to last week as, again, we had Tuesday off. Some work as done on the medical device, I have a feeling that I'm nearing the end of the project(finally). I've also figured out a new project, which was heavily infused by a fellow Shop-mate's project. With the very, short summary out the way, let's begin.

Starting off Monday, I opened up the medical device to check if the circuitry may be the problem. Nothing seemed wrong, all the pieces were soldered fine, and nothing was brunt. Mr.L recommended I make my own circle port charger, as we have those ports in Shop, I would just need to solder some wires on. It wasn't hard to do so, I just took a few minutes to figure out which way was ground and which was power. I also figured out on Monday my next project, or a project I can work on between the medical device. Nothing else of much note happened on Monday as it was short due to gym. Using the circle port charger on Wednesday, I left the device to charge as I assumed that it was working. It turned on a for a bit longer than when it was using the battery alone.

I spent Wednesday working on the next project, a poster. I will admit that I took heavy inspiration from fellow shop-mate, Jaspreet's project, as she is also making a poster that spins. I plan on using lights for mine, but I felt the need to give credit where credit is due. The model didn't take long as I already had an idea sketched up in my sketchbook. A strange mix of my wild west fascination and my love of Japanese mythological. I did take some time to redesign some of the letters and it looked a bit off to me. When I moved everything to InkScape, I completely forget that InkScape doesn't like Fusion splines. So I had to redone many things completely! The day ended before I could anything else done.

On Thursday, I gave Mr.L an update on the progress of the medical device. Even with it charging basically all day Wednesday, it still wouldn't hold any charge. Dying almost as soon as I disconnect it from the power box. We did some trouble shooting and still couldn't find what was wrong. The power and ground pins on the headers that the battery connects to were working fine. The white wire on the battery itself came off, I don't even know when, so maybe that was the problem. It the problem was still there after I fixed the wire. I was trying to find a replacement battery online in case we just need to replace the whole thing, when Mr.L told me that Miles reminded him that we only really charged one cell of the battery, not both of them. Which is probably the problem. I'm going to start charging the battery Friday, as it needs like an hour and a half to fully charge. Some more work was done on the poster between all the medical device stuff. I was able to do a test cut of everything in cardboard to check how everything fitted. It was a bit small for my liking and some pieces at the bottom needed to be refitted, but all in all it was fine. It was needed a few fixes. I also plan on designing the place for the LED and a place to hold all the electrical stuff.
