Hello Friends! This week in shop is a bit more interesting than the last couple of weeks as we have a project that isn't cosmetics. Also some small projects were done for Drama club as it's starting to pick up steam and they needed a bit of help. I've also been cleaning house, so there will be at least 1 image on the Blog itself and not on the Doc! Without fartherado, let's jump into this week!

Starting off monday, I decied to take on a project that as been just sitting on the housekeeping sheet for a good handfull of weeks now. Mr.L's partner works in a medical center that works with childern and one of their devices broke and they wanted to see if the shop could fix it. They said that it was just ramdomly turning off while it was on and from that I assuse that it was a problem with the battery or the charging port. I carefully took the device apart but couldn't see anything wrong with the circuitry. I tried to power the device with one of our power supply boxes but that plan quickly went out the window once I immediately started smelling smoke as soon I turned the box open while it was connected to the device. The device charges by a circle charger but none of the ones we have in Shop fit the port. I double check the circuitry around the charging port as well as the port itself but it seemed fine, which meant that the maybe the problem was with the battery. I didn't have time to start looking at the battery as we had gym.

The following day, I started to remove the battery from the rest of the medical device. Aftering getting the battery isolated, I tested for voltage from the battery. I got nothing, even after moving the tongs everywhich way. After talking with Mr.L, he informed me that another shopmate worked on batteries similar to mine earlier in the year, Miles. He helped me out a bit with this battery, basiclly giving me the a-okay to start taking it apart to follow the wires and check the board inside. Which is what I did. Taking a exacto knife and cutting the plastic surrounding the battery. The blue wires on the battery were controling the temp, besically making sure the battery doesn't get too hot. After checking the solder pads with a muiltmeter, I figured out the problem. The batteries themselves were near dead, but had a bit of power left. The BMS(the board that manages and moitors the batteries power) wasn't working either. It wasn't giving out power even thought it was getting power. Adding more solder didn't help and the electronics weren't broken. After relaying this info, Miles gave Mr.L some new BMS to buy. I'm basiclly going to replace the old BMS with the new BMS and hopfully that fixes the problem.

Inbetween the battery problems and dissections, I worked on one final thing for my halloween costume. Just simple paper claws as the robotic hand I had lost it's finger tips and these were quick to make. I spray-painted them sliver to match everything else with the costume. The Drama club also asked me to print out a fake wand for them, as they need a few for the upcoming play. It was just a quick thing, only took 30ish minutes to print. After I gave it to them, they liked it but asked if I could make it a bit bigger. Which is fine but unforntally a lot of other people were in line for the Bambu printer. I plan on at printing the bigger wand on Friday as people would likey be done with the printer.
