Hello all! this week was a very simple week in shop as I finally finished up the book sleeve project and got started on my next: making props for my Halloween costume. Let's dive in!

I started this week off by finishing up the book sleeve project. I left it drying over the weekend so first thing Monday, I sanded down some of the sharper edges and embolden some of the letters that didn't come out so well on the laser-cutter. I spent the rest of Monday thinking of a new project to do, but I didn't get anything ideas. One of the school security guards, Kyle, somehow broke his electric scooter. His back wheel was unaligned to the back axis. I had to take apart basically the entire back thing that connects the back wheel to the scooter and saw that, somehow, an entire bolt got unscrewed while it was completely covered. It took me a bit of time to reassemble everything after I fixed the bolt as the breaks were a bit confusing.

While I was working on the scooter, I finally got an idea for my next project; making props/piece for my Halloween costume. I, historically, got all out for Halloween and this is year is no different. On the shop side of things, it wasn't much to make; some horns and a mask. I started with the horns as they would be the easiest to make. I brought in some old horns that I bought at a rein fair a few years back, they were resin printed and fit pretty well on head, so I thought I could take some notes on the design. A simple hole was drilled through the side of the horns near the base, and some thick string(maybe shoelace) was looped thought to make the straps. A very simple design that is easiest replicated. Modeling the horns themselves was a different story.

I tried to free hand model them which turned out bad, they looked so strange and that's just from one side. After a bit of digging I found some nice horn models online that I could use as a base and just switch them up a bit. After getting them to a point that I'm happy with, I went to resin print them so they can be a bit more sturdy than just normal 3d printing. Unfortunately, Preform didn't want to work and just wouldn't send my print to the resin printers. Mr.L had left for the day so I couldn't ask him for help. I just plan on printing them Friday and finishing them up next week. Onto the mask though, It was again simple just time consuming. The base of the mask itself was a Hannibal mask, as it also cover the lower face and had those nose holes. I had to cover all of the other small circle holes in the mask as the drawing of my costume mask has vertical spires as the holes and not just random circles. The mask is still a work in progress as covering those holes takes a while in Fusion.
