Hello Yall! This week was a bit on the shorter side as the Seniors had C3 day, a day off of school that we can use to either do college tours, work, or do some community service, and we had gym Monday like every week. But other than that, more work was done on the Halloween Costume and I finally found an idea for the next project.
Starting off the week with the Mask, as last week I started to remove the supports. I only got around half of them off by the end of Friday, so I had my work cut out for me coming in Monday. The removal of the supports did take a while as they were all interconnected with each other and I couldn't remove them too roughly or I run the risk of breaking the Mask. I do not want to reprint that entire thing again. Another time consuming task needed for the Mask, was smoothing the whole time out. The supports left bumps and sharp edges on the inside and I needed that smooth out if I want to wear it for a prolong amount of time. So sitting at my desk, sanding down the inside of a mask is how I mostly spent my week_
Last Friday, I 3D printed the Tail End pieces but they were a bit too small, so inbetween sanding I reprinted the Pieces. I didn't make them huge, only upped their size a bit. Just enough to be visible in the dark. When they were done printing(which only took around 40 minutes), I spray-painted them sliver so that they look metal and are also easier to see when it's dark out. When the mask was finished and I like how it felt on my face, I also spray-painted it sliver. With those painted, I only need to work on one more thing in shop for this Costume: The Eye.
I needed one of my eyes to be an giant X for the costume but I tried(and failed) to make a X that can just clip/snap onto the frames of my glasses. I came up with an idea that will probably work, measuring out a strip of black fabric that can go around both my head and the mask, and just glue on a spray-painted X(out of cardboard). This idea is the most time saver that I can think with Halloween only a week away, (with an hole cut out so I can still see out of that eye of course).
I plan on finishing these and adding all the little details at home where I have the rest of the materials, but has of now I done all the shop work for the Costume that I needed to do. I've been itching to get back into coding, so I may do one more purely physical project before diving into a coding one or I'll just dive straight into a coding project next week
